Kaatru Veliyidai is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam. Featuring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles, the film has music composed by A. R. Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman. Principal photography of the film commenced on 8 July 2016 in Ooty.
The Bengaluru beauty actress Rukmini Vijayakumar has been roped for a role in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming flick, “Kaatru Veliyidai”. This Bharatanatyam dancer turned actress made her debut in the Kollywood industry through Bharathiraja’s “Bommalattam” and has acted in Ananda Thandavam, Kochadaiiyaan and was last seen in the Dhanush-Amitabh-starrer “Shamitabh.”
As for latest updates, Rukmini Vijayakumar is going to play an important role in this romantic drama film which is written, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam. The actress Rukmini has confirmed this news by saying “Yes, I am part of the film. But I cannot reveal any details about my role at the moment. But yes, I have begun shooting for my parts”.
Post Bommalattam, Rukmini has only acted in four movies in the past seven years. So, when we ask if she is very choosy about signing a project, the Anandha Thandavam star replies, “It’s actually the other way around — most of the time, the project chooses me! In addition, as I dedicate a lot of time to dance, I don’t get time to act in more films. I can never sacrifice Bharatanatyam.”
Rukmini is also very clear that she would want to be recognised more as an actor “I want to be remembered for the characters I have played. It would give me such joy if I am considered more as a performer.” So, when we query what made her accept a cameo role in Dhanush-starrer Shamitabh, she says, “I’m a huge fan of director Balki. Also, it was a fun role to play. That is the reason why I decided to be a part of the film.”
Delhi Ganesh will be seen in a supportive role. Rukmini Vijayakumar’s last Tamil flick was ‘Kochadaiyaan’ in which she played Yamuna Devi.
Desimartini wishes Rukmini Vijayakumar good luck for her new project with the ace director, Mani Ratnam.
