5 Netflix originals to follow in 2022

Just like Santa, Netflix has come bearing gifts for a tremendous new year. Yes, the new seasons of your favorite shows are back, and we know you cannot wait to get started with them. But, let us have some patience and assess which ones to watch first.

Since time immemorial, Netflix Originals have irrefutably changed the face of television.

2022 will bring not only a host of exciting new Netflix Original series but also the return of many fan favorites, including The Witcher, Stranger Things, and Bridgerton.

The year 2021 was highly successful for Netflix. It has had insane revenues and viewership data, reaching its peak with the South Korean Original Squid Game’s unimaginable success and the most intense thriller in history, Money Heist. It appears the 2022 content lineup will be equally interesting and exciting.

Before we start, do you have a reliable internet connection that would not ruin the show for you? If you are having trouble with your internet, get it fixed right away. You do not want your screen freezing in the middle of an important scene.

If your internet is throttling and you are sure it is not the bad weather or your sloppy laptop, change your internet service provider immediately. Similarly, if money is the issue, many providers out there offer affordable internet plans and packages. For binge-watching Netflix, Spectrum is a high recommendation. It has some amazing deals at the moment. What’s more, all the Spectrum plans come without any data caps or contracts.

That being said, time to jump to the fun part.

Below are 5 Netflix originals you would not want to miss this year:

  • Stranger Things-Season 4

Are you an Eleven fan? We are sure most of you are!

As one of Netflix’s most popular shows, Stranger Things has become an overnight sensation, having revived the 80s sci-fi genre with a nostalgic touch. It was created by the Duffer brothers, with its first season out in 2016. There are over ten characters on the show, including Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Winona Ryder, Gaten Matarazzo, and more. Fans eagerly anticipate the fourth season, which will premiere in the summer of 2022.

Stranger Things fans have been mercilessly teased by the cast and crew ahead of the release of the teaser. The teaser’s flurry of images does little to soothe the audience, as Wolfhard calls it “messed up”, and Brown and Sink echo his sentiments.

It also consists of scenes from the previous three seasons before their transitions into other scenes. These include Harbour with a flamethrower if you remember. Also, men clad in jet black suits. Stranger Things season four has been shot in different locations, such as California, Russia, and Hawkins.

  • The Crown-Season 5

Who got hooked on season 4 of this show?

Amazing, right?

We are sure season 5 would be equally splendid.

Emmy Award-winning series The Crown will return in November 2022 for a fifth and final season. Fans have been anxiously awaiting the upcoming season of this British Royal drama that will explore the stormy relationship between Princess Diana and Prince Charles in greater depth.

It explores the socio-political landscape and events within the royal family. In addition to Imelda Staunton and Elizabeth Debicki, the new cast also includes Dominic West, Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville, and Olivia Williams.

In the fifth season, the royal scandals and political upheavals of the past five years will be chronicled, along with the most tragic death that still haunts Britain today – Princess Diana’s untimely death.

  • Bridgerton-Season 2

After a long wait, the Emmy-nominated Regency-era drama Bridgerton will finally premiere on March 25th, 2022. The show is based on Julia Quinn’s eponymous novels. The first season portrayed the lives of Regency-era London’s upper echelons bathed in the opulence and grandeur of regal mansions, manners, flowing ball gowns, and steamy romance. The second season is almost certain to do the same. Who knows! Let us find out that in March!

This second season will follow Anthony Bridgerton, eldest Bridgerton sibling and certified womanizer, as he strives for restraint. He searches for the perfect match according to his unimaginably high standards before contacting Kate Sharma and Edwina Sharma from India, with the latter disagreeing with him when she discovers his true intentions.   Despite Penelope’s efforts to conceal her secrets, Anthony and Kate’s undeniable tension will cause severe complications.

This year’s cast includes Jonathan Bailey, Phoebe Dynevor, Nicola Coughlan, Adjoa Andoh, Bessie Carter, Lorraine Ashbourne, Harriet Cains, Martins Imhangbe, Ruth Gemmell, Florence Hunt, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, Luke Thompson, Polly Walker, Golda Rosheuvel, Julie Andrews, and Will Tilston. Several new cast members will join them, including Simone Ashley, Shelley Conn, Charothra Chandran, Calam Lynch, and  Rupert Young.

  • The Umbrella Academy- Season 3

Fans are buzzing about the new character posters released by The Umbrella Academy’s official Twitter handle, even though the official release date has yet to be announced. With its talented ensemble cast and promising setting, this Netflix series was created by Steve Blackman and Jeremy Slater in 2019 and is based on Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s The Umbrella Academy. The show revolves around a dysfunctional family that ended their second season on a cliffhanger.

Due to the increasing number of daddy issues in the second season, the titular Umbrella Academy failed to stop the apocalypse that destroyed 2019. In addition to that, it introduced alternate versions of themselves that will probably cause havoc in the third season. Again, we will know that when the season releases. Soon!

It will feature the older cast, including Justin H. Min, Elliot Page, Aidan Gallagher, David Castaneda, Robert Sheehan, Colm Feore, and Tom Hopper. They will be joined by new faces like  Britney Oldford, Justin Cornwell, Genesis Rodriguez, Jake Epstein, and Cazzie David.

This brings us to our last recommendation, which is:

  • Peaky Blinders-Season 6

This has to be our absolute favorite! If you still have not watched this show and love crime shows, start today, start now. We cannot stress enough how great the show is. Just too good!

Conrad Khan hinted at a February 2022 release after the official trailer was released a week ago. As one of the greatest British crime dramas, Peaky Blinders will be ending its journey at the end of the sixth season. The trailer for Steven Knight’s sixth season already gives a glimpse of its intense and gripping finale. It is expected that this season will answer all the questions raised by season five.

We will bid farewell to Thomas Shelby and the notorious Black Country gang with mixed feelings. Several actors, many of whom are returning for the show’s sixth season, contributed to the escapades that formed a significant part of the series.

Cast members include Cillian Murphy, Finn Cole, Sophie Rundle, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Beth Harmon, Paul Anderson, and Stephen Graham.
