Shah Rukh Khan is the undisputed king of Bollywood. His popularity is not even up for debate. Every year on his birthday, Mannat, his palatial house in Bandra attracts hordes of people waiting to wish him. The moment he is in sight, the crowd go beresk. Crazy fans across age groups wait endlessly to catch a glimpse of the actor. Whether in India or abroad, the Baadshah is showered with unconditional love. He isn’t called the Bollywood king for nothing.

With the king turning fifty today, we thought we’d take a quick look at his eventful and successful life.

Early Telly Tales

His early days in television saw Shah Rukh acting in TV serials like Dil Dariya, Circus and Fauji. It was Fauji that got him noticed and convinced young kids joining the army to “become like Abhimanyu Rai” was a fabulous idea.

The Negative Nineties

He was loved in negative shades in Darr, Baazigar, Duplicate and Anjaam. We are sure you remember his “I love you, Kkkiran”!

The Age of Romance

With DDLJ, Shah Rukh became the ultimate romantic hero. Films like Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai only added to his appeal.

The NRI Favorite

Movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, he floored the NRI audience over and over again.

Like A Boss

With the production house, Red Chillies Entertainments and IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh just continues to prove he pretty much rules everything he touches, on-screen or not.

With Diwale set to release soon, we wish him good luck. Even kings need some.
Happy Birthday, Baadshah!
