J Dey(Jyotirmay Dey) born in 1955 in Bengal was a Indian journalist and editor for crime and investigations for Mid Day, Unfortunately he was shot dead by some shooters in July 2011. He was very active reporter and his investigations on man-animal conflicts in Borivali national park in which government departments were taking away the lands created lot of furore in the state politics that time and J Dey came to lime light with this work.
He worked for many press channels such as Hindustan Times, Afternoon Despatch and Courier he has also got some experience in photo journalism he also used to free lance for Mid Day, then in 1996 he joined Indian express to cover Mumbai under world stories finally he again rejoined Mid Day as editor for crime investigations.

Producer of Mid Dey, Nandita Singgha is said to have approached Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan for this movie and has allotted dates, but there is no confirmation about female lead. Some inside sources reveal that Nandita has approached the Harry Potter star Emma Watson for the female lead. But sources reveal that these two stars will not be sharing any scenes on screen as there will be no interaction between the characters, Emma will be playing a Hollywood reporter and Aamir will be seen as J Dey. Nandita said “If everything gets finalized then they will hold a press conference in India and UK regarding this movie”.
If the project gets finalized this will be the Aamir’s first Hollywood entry. Fans of Aamir say this character of J Dey will be perfectly portrayed by Aamir and he is the best choice for this role.
