Amala Paul and AL Vijay divorce : Two years after South Indian film industry’s young star couple Amala Paul and AL Vijay had a fairytale wedding on June 12, 2014, the marriage is headed for the rocks.

Amala Paul is an Indian film actress, who works in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu film industries. After appearing in supporting roles in the Malayalam film Neelathamara and Veerasekaran in Tamil, she received critical acclaim for the portrayal of a controversial character in the film, Sindhu Samaveli. Despite the failure of that film, Amala became noted after playing the title role in Mynaa, receiving critical acclaim for her work.

A. L Vijay, credited by his mononym Vijay, is an Indian film director who works in the Tamil film industry. A disciple of Priyadarshan, he debuted as director with films like Kireedam and critically acclaimed Madrasapattinam. Vijay later directed big budget films Deiva Thirumagal and Thaandavam, starring Vikram in both films. His father A. L. Azhagappan was the President of Tamil Nadu Producers Council and appeared in the film Eesan. His brother Udhaya has also starred in Tamil films.

Amala Paul and AL Vijay got married in a star-studded function on June 12, 2014, is expected to announce their divorce in a couple of days. The differences in their lifestyles and compatibility issues have been cited as the major reason behind their decision to end two-year old marriage.

According to a report in International Business Times India, “The duo have decided to part ways by mutual consent, the reason being differences in their lifestyles and compatibility issues. They are expected to announce their divorce in a couple of days.”

The couple began dating during the making of ‘Deiva Thirumagal’, a hit film directed by Vijay, which starred Amala Paul. The couple exchanged vows in a traditional Chettiar wedding in Chennai in the presence of their friends and family.

Amala Paul is currently busy promoting her upcoming Malayalam film, Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum, and Vijay is occupied with his Tamil-Telugu bilingual release Devi, all set to hit the theatres soon.
