Colonia is an upcoming thriller fil written and directed by Oscar-winner Florian Gallenberger and produced by Benjamin Herrmann under the banners of Majestic Filmproduktion, Iris Productions, Rat Pack Filmproduktion, Rezo Productions and Fred Films. the film is co-written by Torsten Wenzel.
The film features Emma Watson, Daniel Brühl and Michael Nyqvist. the film is set in 1973, a young couple become entangled in a Chilean military coup at a time when there is much protest on the streets against General Augusto Pinochet. When Daniel is abducted by Pinochet’s secret police DINA, Lena tries to find and save her husband. She tracks him to a sealed-off village called “Colonia Dignidad”, which presents itself as a charitable mission run by a lay preacher, Paul Schäfer, but is in fact a place from which no one has ever escaped. Lena decides to join the cult to attempt to rescue her husband.
The film will have the most favourite cinematographer of hollywood film industry Kolja Brandt and it is edited by Hansjörg Weißbrich. the film was shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and it is scheduled for a worldwide release in 21 January 2016.
