Deepika Padukone made everyone shed tears by reading out the letter in the Filmfare Awards. It was written by Prakash Padukone, her father. But, very few are aware of the fact, the letter “written” was already written in the book ‘Legacy: Letters from Eminent Parents to Their Daughters’ by Sudha Menon.

Taking back to the time when Deepika Padukone sizzled in red dress and changed the mood around with her not-so-ordinary speech. She went on the stage to receive the Best Actress award for the movie Piku. She mentions that the letter was written by her father years ago before she emerged into the Bollywood field.

The very inspiring lines of the letter includes, “The things that really matter in life are relationships, honesty, respect for your parents and elders. Material success is important, not fundamental to happiness and peace of mind.”

The letter was written for the Prakash Padukone’s daughters Deepika and Aneesha. It begins with the childhood moments and the passion for badminton. He makes it clear that there is no substitute and shortcuts for hard work, passion, and determination. The foremost important thing is to love what you do and nothing else matters if so — neither compensation nor awards.

He highlights the fact that love for passion should be more than getting in newspapers or media. He also made a point to say, the success doesn’t matter as long as you have tried what you want to and have no regrets whatsoever.

“The things that do really matter in the journey of life are respect, honesty, relationships for your parents and elders. Material success is important, not fundamental to happiness and peace of mind.”

Though the author Sudha Menon wasn’t credited for the gentle words which were used many times before. She was acknowledged by few who mentioned her contribution.
