Dhanush’s Vada Chennai: Dhanush’s coming drama and action film Vada Chennai shooting starts today officially along with Samuthirakani and Danel Balaji in key roles. After much delay it had finally gone on floors. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran.

Vada Chennai is an upcoming Tamil gangster film written and directed by Vetrimaran. Produced as a trilogy by A. Subaskaran`s Lyca Productions and Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films with Vetrimaran’s Grass Root Film Company, it features Dhanush in the lead role with Amala Paul and Andrea in other key roles. The film had been in the news since late 2009 with an official announcement only made in November 2011 that the filming would commence by March 2012. After being temporarily shelved, the film re-materialised in May 2015 with a new cast and production started in June 2016.

Dhanush starrer Tamil gangster drama ‘Vada Chennai’, which will be made as part of a trilogy, went on the floors today. The film, which will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Wunderbar Films, will track 30 years in the life of a gangster.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran, the film will cover a timeline of three decades and will follow the different stages of a gangster’s life. The team is currently shooting the first part of this trilogy in Chennai, where a massive jail setup has been erected.

Initially, Samantha has been roped as a female lead, but due to some reasons she walked out of this and actress Amala Paul was finalized as female lead role for “Vada Chennai” film. The film also features Andrea, Daniel Balaji, Karuna as and others playing important roles. On the other hand, Dhanush’s “Thodari” film is getting ready for release and he has three other films in his hand along with “Vada Chennai”.

The official muhurat and pooja formalities have been completed today in Chennai and the whole team starts shooting of part one.
