Dilwale, the film which is written and directed by Rohit Shetty after the blockbuster hit film Chennai Express, hit the big screens on 18th December 2015. the film is produced by Gauri Khan and Rohit Shetty under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment and Rohit Shetty Productions respectively.

Rohit Shetty is known for making mass masala movies, and he has already proved his mettle in making these kind of movies through ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Golmaal’ and Dilwale too follows the same route, but this time, it received mixed reviews from audiences and critics.

The film is loaded with commercial elements, and we can see flying cars which are considered to be the trade mark element in all Rohit Shetty movies. The film features  Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, and Kriti Sanon in lead roles, with Johnny Lever and Varun Sharma in supporting roles.

The film, releasing alongside Bajirao Mastani, opened number one at the box office, and collected ₹21 crore nett in India on its opening day, the third highest of the year after Prem Ratan Dhan Payoand Bajrangi Bhaijaan.The film showed little drop on its second day, and earned nearly ₹20 crore nett.On its first Sunday, Dilwale took in approximately ₹23 crore nett, bringing the three day nett to an estimated ₹64 crore.Dilwale had a first week of ₹97 crore nett in the domestic market.

The film earned around ₹21 crore nett in its second weekend. It grossed little over ₹31 crore nett in week two, taking its business to ₹127 crore nett.The film added around ₹11 crore nett more in the third week, to finish with a total of ₹140 crore nett in India.
