Farhan Akhtar is an Indian Bollywood actor, director, producer, writer, playback singer. Farhan was born on 9 January 1974 in Mumbai. He was born in an Iranian-Muslim family. Javed Akhtar is his father. He is a famous writer and poet of Bollywood. Farhan’s mother’s name is Honey Irani, she is a Bollywood actress and writer.

In a very short time, Farahan has established himself in the film world with hard work. He is also a successful producer-director. Farhan started his career as an assistant director at the age of just 17. He did the film ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ Debut as director with The film received a lot of praise from critics. Farhan Akhtar began his career at the age of 17 as an apprentice with cinematographer-director Manmohan Singh for films such as Lamhe (1991). After serving as an assistant to director Pankaj Parashar in the 1997 film Himalaya Putra (1997), Farhan, who served a television production house for three years, has been doing a variety of assignments.

He began his writing and directing career in Hindi cinema with the 2001 hit film – Dil Chahta Hai, produced by Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which he co-produced in 1999 with Ritesh Sidwani. The film revolves around love and friendship, the story of three friends (starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna) who have recently graduated from college. Not only was it critically acclaimed, it was also a commercial success, especially among the younger generation. The film received several nominations at various award ceremonies including Best Screenplay, Direction and Film. The film won that year’s National Film Award for Best Hindi Film.

Akhtar then went on to produce his next project, the Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta starrer Lakshya (2004), about aimless youths who finally manage to set a goal for themselves. Although the film was not a box office success, it was praised by many critics.]The script of the film was written by his father Javed Akhtar. Meanwhile, he also wrote songs for Gurinder Chadha’s 2004 Hollywood film Bride and Prejudice.

After that he did a remake of 1978 Amitabh Bachchan’s film Don. [[डॉन- द चेज़ विगिंस अगेन|डॉन – द चेज़ विगिंस अगेन]]which starred Shahrukh Khan in the lead role.

Personal Life-

He married Adhuna Bhabani in 2000, after being in a relationship with her for 3 years. They have two daughters Shakya and Akira. After 16 years of marriage, the couple officially announced their separation on 21 January 2016.
