Free State of Jones trailer released. Free State of Jones is an upcoming American action-drama film highlighting the true story of a defiant Southern farmer and his armed rebellion against the Confederacy in Jones County, Mississippi during the American Civil War.
The film was written and directed by Gary Ross, which is jointly produced by Jon Kilik, Gary Ross and Scott Stuber under the banners of Larger Than Life Productions, Route One Films, Vendian Entertainment and Bluegrass Films and distributed by STX Entertainment.
The film features Matthew McConaughey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keri Russell and Mahershala Ali in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to be released domestically in the U.S. on May 13, 2016.
