Furious 8 Will Directed By Rob Cohen: Vin Diesel. After the Big Success of Furious 7, The seventh installment of the blockbuster Fast & Furious series, The Universal studio quickly confirmed another sequel titled Furious 8 with an 14th April 2017 release date. Vin Diesel revealed the next Fast and Furious Triology through his official facebook page. This triology brings the total number of films in the franchise to ten. The Universal Studio approached Furious 7‘s director James Wan to direct Furious 8 but he was declined to return for the eighth installment of Fast and Furious saga. They were also approached Justin Lin and he also rejected the offer because of his upcoming film “Star Trek Beyond”. The studio also considerd many other options but none of whom has been attached to the project so far And Finally the Universal Studio approached Rob Cohen to bring him back to the Fast and Furious saga.
Vin Diesel said that, There has always been the desire by Paul Walker to have Rob Cohen direct Fast and Furious Saga.Vin Diesel also added that, “I believe that he can and would reset the franchise nicely, returning to what was the core of the film in the beginning.. racing. He would also handle the Brian O’connor issue with integrity, given that he and David Ayer were the ones who initially created that beloved character in the first place.”
Rob Cohen, the man who launched the car-racing series with The Fast and the Furiousin 2001. The movie earned $207M at the worldwide box office, against a budget of $38M.
Furious 8 will features Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Michelle Rodriguez in the lead roles. Furious 7 was a huge success in the Box Office and made $1.5 billion worldwide. The next three installments will mark the end of the Fast and Furious saga which is started in 2001.
