As Kristen Stewart continues to distance herself from her amazing vampire past, she keeps landing powerful roles in pretty unusual films. After putting up great performances in Still Alice and Clouds of Sils Maria, the 24-year-old actress is said to be in talks for an Iraq war drama – Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.
The project will be directed by Oscar-winning director Ang Lee, who is known for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Brokeback Mountain (2005) and Life of Pi (2012).
The story of the film revolves round the character of Billy Lynn, a 19-year-old infantryman from Texas, who survives the harrowing fight in Iraq and is brought back with his comrades to celebrate their service for the country, before being sent back to Iraq, once again.
In Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, Kristen Stewart will don the role of Kathryn, his elder sister. While newcomer Joe Alwyn has already been cast as the protagonist of the story, the film also includes Garrett Hedlund and Steve Martin.
