Maari is a Comedy-Action drama with high commercial elements. Dhanush was seen shaking his leg for a few songs with fast dance numbers and the trailers look smashing. The movie is directed by Balaji Mohan and is produced by Listin Stephen and Raadhika Sarathkumar under the banner of Magic Frames and also co-produced by Dhanush himself under the banner Wunderbar Films. The music of the flick is composed by Anirudh Ravichandran who is working with Dhanush for the fourth time.

Plot:

Maari(Dhanush) is a boy who grows up in a slum from Chennai. As a child, he gets interested in pigeons and starts petting them. As he grows up, he learns about pigeon Racings. Meanwhile, he starts winning the races and gets into fights with the other guys and finally he grows as a small time don of the slum. As he starts ruling the area, the entry of a police officer to the area leaves Maari in trouble. Arjun Kumar(Vijay Yesudas), the police officer clashes with Maari and how Maari overcomes and escapes from the police officer makes the crux of the story. Amazing comedy and action sequences save the weakly scripted movie.

Performance:

Maari is one of those regular movies with same old stories in a new visualization. It has got a weak plot or the most common plot. However, Dhanush who is supposed to be the pillar of the movie carries it on his shoulders. Vijay Yesudas who plays the role of a police officer fails to impress. Kajal Aggarwal did justice to the role offered to her. She has got a limited role to play but looks beautiful. The main saving part of the movie is Robo Shankar who will leave you in splits with his comic timing and dialog delivery.

Plus Points:

Dhanush’s Performance: It’s awesome how he gets into the skin of any character offered to him and he carried the role of Maari with ease. Screenplay: Balaji Mohan’s amazing screenplay saves the weak script. The visualization of the movie will not let you move your eyes off the screen.

Music and Background Score: Anirudh Ravichandran has delivered another chartbuster with Maari. The music and background score are just perfect.

Action Sequences and Comic Timing: The amazing action sequences of the movie and Robo Shankar’s comedy tracks will leave you laughing out loud. These are the saving points of the flick.

Minus Points:

Weak Script: This is so far one of the weakest scripts Dhanush worked on in recent times
Vijay Yesudas: He tried, but failed to impress the audience. He was better a singer, fans say.

Final Verdict:

Maari is a disappointment for many. You will only love the movie, if you are an ardent Dhanush fan. Maari is strictly a one time watch. Do watch it for amazing action sequences and awesome comedy by Robo Shankar.
