Rajesh Pillai, the popular Malayalam film director and producer passed away at 11.45 am at private hospital at Kochi on Saturday, 27 February 2016.
The 41-year old director had to be hospitalized several times in the middle of the Vettah shooting and in the final sound mixing stage of Vettah he had hospitalized due to pneumonia. Doctors had advised a liver transplant but his health condition was not conducive for the same.
He started his film career in 2005 by directing Hridayathil Sookshikkan. His second film Traffic, The film was a notable success and is widely regarded as one of the defining movies of the Malayalam New Wave.
Rajesh Pillai‘s latest film Vettah a psychological thriller, starring Kunchacko Boban, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran and Kadhal Sandhya hit the bigscreens on 26 February 2016.
