Suriya’s Masss, which is releasing on Friday, 29 May, has done a remarkable pre-release business and has beaten the record of Ajith Kumar’s Yennai Arindhaal.

This Suriya starrer has created a lot of positive buzz in the industry and in turn has helped Masss to rake in commendable revenue even before its release. It has collected approximately ₹80 crore, thereby beating Ajith’s Yennai Arindhaal, which could only make ₹64.75 crore through various rights.

According to Andhra Box Office, Masss has earned about ₹34-35 crore from Tamil Nadu theatrical rights, about ₹9 crore from overseas rights, ₹10 crore from AP/Nizam rights, ₹4 crore from Karnataka, ₹3 crore from Kerala and about ₹50 lakh from rest of India to take its total tally to ₹61 crore.

From the Tamil satellite rights, Masss has raked in ₹15 crore and it has been acquired by Sun TV. Eros International has paid ₹75 lakh for the audio rights of the forthcoming Tamil film. From other rights, the Suriya starrer has made about ₹3 crore to reach the ₹80-crore mark.

On the other hand, Yennai Arindhaal had collected ₹35 crore from Tamil Nadu theatrical rights, ₹2.4 crore from Kerala, ₹2.25 crore from Karnataka, ₹60 lakh from rest of India and ₹9 crore from the overseas rights to take its total tally to ₹ 49.25 crore. While satellite rights had fetched ₹ 14 crore from Jaya TV, Sony Music had paid ₹1.5 crore for the audio rights.

Thus the pre-release business of  Yennai Arindhaal ended at ₹64.75 crore. Coming back to Masss pre-release business, the film might have done better business than Yennai Arindhaal but it has failed to beat the record of Suriya’s earlier movie Anjaan, which had raked in close to ₹90 crore.
