Saif Ali Khan (born: 16 August 1970) is an Indian film actor. His father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi is a famous cricketer and mother Sharmila Tagore is a famous actress of Hindi films. His ancestors were the Nawabs of the princely state of Pataudi. He completed his school life at Lawrence School, Sanawar and Lockers Park School, Hertfordshire, England. After which he went to Winchester College Independent School for Boys in United Kingdom for college studies. After returning from his studies, he worked for an advertising firm based in Delhi for 2 months. After that, at the behest of his family friend, he worked in some commercials for the clothing brand “Gwalior Suitings”. But due to some reason that project could not go ahead and he had to come to Mumbai. From where he started his Bollywood career. His first film “Parampara” was released in 1992, which did not do well at the box office. He received the Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award, in 2010.

Personal life

He married Bollywood actress Amrita Singh in October 1991. But in 2004 both of them separated and they have two children daughter Sara Ali Khan and son Ibrahim Ali Khan. He dated Italian Swiss model Rosa Catalano for three years after his divorce with Amrita.

Saif was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on 18 February 2007 due to chest pain. At the time he was preparing to perform at the Stardust Awards which was to be shown on stage that night. This incident forced him to quit smoking.

Saap Ali Khan is dating Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor since October 2007. Their marriage has always been a prominent point in India’s entertainment media and Khan has always expressed that they are very close to each other and the marriage will be just to validate their relationship from a social point of view.

Saif’s father died on 22 September 2011, after which he had to formally become the 10th Nawab of Pataudi. The title has no such official or legal status since 1971, but he still does so to appease the sentiments of the villagers.
