Sarrainodu starring stylish star Allu Arjun is the highest grosser of telugu films in 2016 followed by Oopiri and Nannaku Prematho at 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The year 2016 started well for Tollywood with first ever release ‘Nenu Sailaja’ which is a money spinner. Four huge movies also released like ‘Nannaku Prematho’, ‘Express Raja’, ‘Dictator’ and ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ clashing at the box office in the occassion of Sankranti.
Over 35 movies with small-budgets were released in the months of Feb and March. ‘Oopiri’ and Nani’s ‘Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gadha’ saw a huge ticket collections. They made a decent business, the rest of them failed to be successful. ‘Kshanam’ turned out to be a surprising hit.

‘Shourya’, ‘Kalyana Vaibhogame’, ‘Tuntari’, ‘Guntur Talkies’, ‘Shiva Ganga’, and ‘Run’ turned out as average grosser. The disaster collections were for ‘Speedunnodu’, ‘Garam’, and ‘Krishnashtami’.
‘Savitri’ and ‘Attack’ movies brought a dull note for April and performed averagely. The most hyped movie ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’ starring Pawan Kalyan bombed in the second week of April delivering the disastrous results in Industry. However, ‘Sarrainodu’ and ‘Eedo Rakam Ado Rakam’ were the saving grace later.
May witnessed a mixture of limited number which included four dubbed movies but the movie which faced huge loss was another hyped flick ‘Brahmotsavam’ which starred superstar Mahesh Babu. ‘Supreme’ movie of Sai Dharam Tej was a box office hit. Dubbed movies, ‘Bichagadu’ and ’24’ also made it big. ‘Bichagadu’ became a sensational success.

The month of June gave two box office hits for Tollywood with Nithin starrer ‘A..Aa’ and Nani’s ‘Gentleman’. ‘Oka Manasu’, ‘Sri Sri’, ‘Kundanapu Bomma’, ‘Oka Ammayi Thappa’, ‘Rajadhi Raja’ and ‘Right Right’ failed to deliver good results.
