Akira is an upcoming Hindi action drama film directed and produced by AR Murugadoss. It is the remake of Tamil film Mouna Guru and features Sonakshi Sinha in lead role.
It’s been a while since Sonakshi Sinha’s fans saw her on the silver screen. And finally, they have a reason to rejoice as Sonakshi’s upcoming film Akira has got a release date. It’s been quite a few months that anyone got to hear any news on the action drama. The 28-year-old began shooting for the film in 2015, but the buzz around Akira soon fizzled out. However, Sonakshi recently surprised her fans when she announced the film’s release date on Twitter.

After Aamir Khan’s hit blockbuster Ghajini, popular south director A R Murugadoss is all set to impress us with this action thriller.
Sonakshi has undergone a lot of physical training for this role and will be seen in a never-before-seen avatar. Judging by the poster, it looks like she is a one man army fighting the baddies all by herself. She has a feisty role in the movie and will sure do justice to her nickname, Junior Shotgun, through this film.
Akira is said to be an emotional thriller set in Mumbai and Rajasthan. The film marks Murugadoss’ third Hindi venture after back-to-back hits Ghajini and Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. Sonakshi will be seen in a new avatar in the film.

It has been a while since Sonakshi appeared on screen as her last flick was Tevar with Arjun Kapoor which did not cook up a storm at the box office exactly. So, it is obvious that there are a lot of hopes pinned on this one.
