Anthology movies are quite rare in Indian cinema, and ‘X: Past Is Present‘ came to fill this unoccupied slot. To be frank, this movie cannot be considered as an anthology because the lead character ‘K’ is present in all stories, and the film tries to unveil his life in various junctures.
This film which is directed by eleven filmmakers hit the theaters on November 20, 2015. According to initial reports, the film is fetching mixed reviews from all corners, and in all probabilities, it will fail to make it big in the Box Office due to its prominence of style over substance.
Abhinav Shiv Tiwari, Anu Menon, Hemant Gaba, Nalan Kumarasamy, Pratim D. Gupta, Q, Raja Sen, Rajshree Ojha, Sandeep Mohan, Sudhish Kamath and Suparn Verma are the directors in this movie, and all of them have crafted individual life portrayals of K.
The movie is stylish in nature, and this is the part where the directors failed completely. They gave prominence only to style, not for substance, and this make it an average watch. Most of the transitions from one story to another seem complicated, and it will not evoke any interest in the minds of the audiences.
‘X: Past Is Present’ can be watched only for its experimental nature, and there is nothing more in this flick.
