This movie took a while to hit the screens, the promos of this flick were well made and marketed with great nake for impressing the audience. The team always the kept the story in a knot with everyone guessing what this could be about, as the trailer and teaser claimed it’s based on a true story. Sathya Prabhas derived a story which weighs well in most levels of entertainment. I don’t want to reveal the plot nor the outline as this might give away the fun which you will have watching it.
Aadhi was seen almost after 2 years, he did a great job without doubt, he has a penchant for carrying a role with elan and getting under the skin of the character since his first movie. The case is the same with YNK, his character was well etched with great emotions which is well balanced with his dynamic attitude in action scenes. He brings a great charm to his character.
Nikki Galrani, she’s going to be a sweetheart of many after this movie, as she did bring a great deal of cuteness in the form of a TOM BOYISH character. She was a pleasant relief in this high tension Thriller Drama, did a great job, and did prove that she is not just a great looker but a very good performer.
Then comes these 3 characters who form the crux of the story along with the lead Aadhi in the movie. Shyam Kashyap,Shree Karthick & Siddharth Gopinath were well characterized, which were not let down with their good performances. They in fact complete the movie with their great deal of friendship.
Harish Uthaman is slowly making his way in to the industry with meaty roles in negative shades. He’s got the attire to become a great villain in coming days, did a great job as “Guna“.
The rest of the supporting cast Pasupathy,Richa Pallod,Nassar,Ramaraju,Sravan,Pithamagan Mahadevan,Kitty,Aadukalam Naren,Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli add good value to the movie.
Now comes the main attraction of the movie, Mithun Chakraborty. He was never seen in Tamil Cinema, with this he made his mark felt. His introduction was great which had the same feel as Amitabh Bachchan in “Sarkar“. Mithun’s character was well derived with right attitude. Wonder why he never gave a shot during his shining days, but it’s still not late, seeing Mithun Da performing in this attire makes you feel good. He in fact carries the movie forward at some places where it tries to get sloppy. As Mudaliar he brings a definitive outlook to the character.
Let’s get to the technical team who gave a great look to YNK. To start with the cinematographer Shanmugasundaram, he did a delectable job with his eye for perfection. There were lot of scenes which were very well captured and movie had a good color to it. His eye for perfection was well balanced by Sabu Joseph’s sharp editing. The music was another good point in the movie, the debutante Prasan Praveen Shyam did a neat job, the background score had a good impact with well placed songs.
YNK has many layers which unfolds at a pace of it’s own. The suspense is kept at a perfect level which keeps you in knots all the time wondering till the last part of the movie. There are few pot holes in the name of draggy scenes, which if were compromised would have made this engaging throughout without losing it’s grip here and there. Sathya Prabhas at the end of the day gave a good suspense thriller which enjoys it’s film-making to the fullest.
