Zubaan starts with Dilsher, who is truly passionate about music. He absolutely adores the way his father sings hymns and ragas in the gurudwara. That’s what inspires him to pursue singing. Soon after, all that is perfect turns to ashes. Dilsher goes through a traumatic experience that makes him quit his singing. When one door closes, another opens. Dilsher’s path crosses with Gurcharan Sikand’s (Manish Chaudhary). That’s when he learns an important life lesson which motivates him to become as successful as Gurcharan a.k.a. Lion.
Dilsher grows up and moves to Delhi to find Gurcharan, the man who inspired him. In order to get recognized by Gurcharan, he tries many ways to get close to him. While doing this, he ends up pissing off his son Surya (Raaghav Chanana), who has ‘daddy issues’. In the middle of this intense manipulative game, he also gets introduced to Amira (Sarah Jane Dias), a soulful girl who also happens to be a singer. She constantly keeps on reminding him that he should focus on his singing rather than picking a fight with Surya. But Dilsher has still not moved on from the traumatic experience in his childhood, and so he continues to focus on becoming the Lion. The struggle goes on until he finds what he is looking for. After tasting success, he feels something is incomplete and he is yet to gain satisfaction. That’s how the movie goes on until he meets his destiny – Music.
