When he entered the industry Varma dreamed of collaborating with Sridevi and came to the opportunity of his first feature, Shiva (1990). “Gopala Reddy S productor came and asked me if I’d like to make a movie with Sridevi. I told you ‘ Are you messed up? I’m just going to die to see her? ‘” wrote Varma.

It came to the end that Gopala Reddy arranged a conference between Varma and Sridevi, and Varma began to make a film of Sridevi’s Kshana Kashanam in 1991. “Kshana Kashanam was to be my Love letter to Sridevi. I was just not able to keep my eye off her during all the making of the film. Her grace, grace and temperament, and attitude, became a new discovery for me.

Sridevi was her generation’s biggest actress in its height of fame, and with just one instance Varma explained the same in her book.
