Selvaraghavan is widely touted to be one of the most maverick filmmakers in Indian Film Industry. His recent writing venture, ‘Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam‘ hit the theaters yesterday, and it is getting positive reviews from all corners. The film is directed by Selvaraghavan’s wife Gitanjali Selvaraghavan.
Due to some hectic schedule, Filmdhamaka team failed to watch the movie FDFS, but we managed to enter the theaters in the very next day. Please scroll down to read our genuine and unbiased review about this movie.
Story
The movie showcases the life of young couples, Manoja and Prabhu. Manoja marries Prabhu due to the compulsion from her family, and this resulted in her non interest towards husband. Later, when she tried to stitch the wound, things fail to fall in Manoja’s way. Will Prabhu and Manoja unite happily in their life? Answer to this question forms the major crux of the movie.
Performances
All the lead actors which include Balakrishnan Kola, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sharran, Kalyani Natarajan and Parvathi Nair did their roles with perfection. The acting department in this movie is undoubtedly top notch, and it will remind you about that golden age in Tamil Cinema which was blessed with impeccable actors. Even though the lead pair in the movie are not that experienced in acting, they succeeded in giving their best to this movie.
Director’s cut
Gitanjali Selvaraghavan has proved that she has lots of mettle in her. The director has narrated the story well, and she has given her best to the screenplay which lacks Selvaraghavan touch. There is nothing much to talk about the technical side of the movie.
Altogether, ‘Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam’ emerges as a fine movie which lacks that extra punch of Selvaraghan movies.
