Story

Set in the Malabar region, the movie talks about an irresponsible young man Umesh played by Nivin Pauly. Though all his friends have cleared engineering exams, he manages to repeatedly fail for each semester and get back home unsuccessful.

He soon realise that no one respects him in his home or in his village. So, he decides to make his life an eventful one by being a film-maker as he thinks that is the easiest field to be famous and rich.

With some inspiration from his close friends Shaji (Aju Varghese) and Thankappa Prasad (Neeraj Madhav), who are equally or more naive than him, he decides to be a film-maker and then heads to Chennai. What follows is a series of hilarious turn of events, which has now turned out to be one of the best comedy movies of the recent times.

Direction and Screenplay

G Prajith has come out with a complete entertainer and the debutant has proved that he is a master in making by assembling all aspects of a good comedy movie.

Special credit has to be given to the script writer of the movie Vineeth Sreenivasan who has penned some lively dialogues. The screenplay is highly engaging and has in fact has left many in splits. The basic storyline has scope of being yet another movie without any spice in it, but Vineeth’s ability to convert this simple story to an impressive narrative is worth mentioning.

Performance

Performance by the actors is the major highlight of the movie, especially that of the amazing chemistry between Nivin Pauly and Aju Varghese. The comic timing of both the actors reminds you of some of the classic comedy combination of Mohanal and Sreenivasan.

Neeraj Madhavan takes the game away with his antics and dialogue delivery and Vineeth Sreenivasan with his versatility. Manjima Mohan has managed to come out from the image of a child actress and has delivered a matured performance.

Other actors including Bhagath, Vijay Raghavan and Santhosh Kezhatoor also stand out with their screen presence.

Music

The songs of the movie composed by Shaan Rahman are surely going to be yet another success story and the BGM has also been impressive.

Technical Aspects

You cannot point any flaws when it comes to the technicalities. The cinematography by Jomon T John, editing by Ranjan Abraham and art by Ajay Mangad has been impressive.

Verdict

“Oru Vadakkan Selfie’ is worth your time and money if you are looking ahead for a fun-filled day.
