Bala, the acclaimed director is such a figure in Tamil movie Industry who always used to show the courage in adopting uncompromising cinematic language and raw presentation. Expectations were sky high when he joined hands with director actor Sasikumar and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar for Tharai Thappattai. The film hit the theaters today, and it is now getting positive responses from all corners.

Tharai Thappattai is a movie which is based on the life of Karakattam musicians and dancers in Tanjavur. The film just like any other Bala movies touches the deep rooted emotions of human mind, and he has said the story in a real life manner which will make you glued in the theater seats.

The film showcases the search of a television crew to find a renowned singer and musician Swamy Pulavar who lives in Tanjavur. The inside story and real life of Tamil musicians and their ancient arts forms have been portrayed well by the director. The movie will surely remind us about the need of conserving the traditional arts forms in our state which has a lot to tell about our culture and civilization.

The movie solely belongs to Bala. The director once again proved that he is a master in crafting genuine high quality movies with raw visuals. Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja’s music is another major highlight of this movie. The scores were simply amazing, and it literally blends with the mood of the movie.

All the actors which include Sasikumar, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sathish and R K Suresh have all done their roles impeccably well. But according to me, the real show stealer in the movie is Varalaxmi who pulled out a convincing performance. The young lady through this movie made it clear that she is an asset to Tamil Cinema.

Final Verdict

Tharai Thappattai is a genuine film for genuine movie lovers. Watch it to taste the untouched reality.
