Story:
Yevade Subramanyam begins with the introduction of Subramanyam’s [Nani] childhood life with Rishi [Vijay Devarakonda] and Prabhakar [Srinivas Avasarala] being his friends. After taking a leap to present days, Subramanyam aka Subbu joins Pasupathi’s [Nasser] Company and helps him in fulfilling his 20 years old dream to buy his opponent Ramayya’s [Krishnan Raju] company. This makes Pasupathi accept Ria’s [Ritu] love proposal and get her engaged to Nani.
Twist in the tale, Subbu is in search of Anandi [Malavika Nair] and finally meets her with the help of Rishi. The trio plan to go for a trekking trip to ‘Dudh Koshi’, a river in Eastern Nepal. On their trip of self-discovery, Anandi and Subbu fall for each other and develop a strong bonding within them.
Why did Subbbu search for Anandi? What happens to Ria’s love life? Will Subbu-Anandi get married? Watch Yevade Subramanyam in theaters for answers…
Performance:
Nani’s bold image absolutely suits the role of Subramanyam. He has given good performance in both roles, as a career oriented selfish entrepreneur who transforms in to a good human being. A little variation in the body language would have been fantastic.
Malavika Nair had an impressive debut. She is apt for the role of Anandi with her juvenile looks and husky performance.
Vijay Devarakonda as Rishi did an excellent job. Ritu Varma, Nasser, Krishnam Raju were appreciable among others.
Technical Analysis:
Nag Ashwin has to be appreciated for coming up with a fresh concept for today. Sadly, he lost the groove to weave the dialogues with racy screenplay, which could have definitely worked wonders on screen.
Radhan’s music is an asset to Yevade Subramanyam. Ilayaraja’s single ‘Challagaali Taakutunna’ song is beautifully pictured. Background score travels along the movie creating right mood.
Cinematographers Rakesh and Naveen did a good job. The duo had beautifully captured the virgin locales in natural lights. The Dudh Koshi scenes need a special mention.
Editing could have been much better considering the slow pace of the movie.
Production values of Priyanka Dutt’s swapna Cinema are mediocre, definitely not less the par.
Analysis:
Yevade Subramanyam team including lead cast and crew has to be lauded for their efforts to go on a road trip for presenting such a visual experience to audience.
Efforts of Nag Ashwin aka Nagi, Nani, Malavika Nair, Vijay Devarakonda and Radhan are clearly visible on screen. Being new to individual film making, Nagi needs to concentrate more on narration pace and dialogues.
Yevade Subramanyam takes off at an acceptable pace with engaging story line and couple of comedy bits, which is completely lost in the second half, as silence takes the escort in as many scenes during their Dudh Koshi trip. Climax is something to watch for.
Final Verdict: Subramanyam couldn’t reach audience expectations…
