There have been great shows and they’ll continue to be great TV shows and web series. However, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that there’ll never be another like Friends that can be called a global emotion, changing lives and shaping lives the way it has, which makes this long-delayed Friends Reunion special so much more special. And does it deliver on the hype? Yes, yes, and then some.

What’s it about
Seventeen years after the most widely watched season finale in the history of television, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer aka Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing and Ross Geller return to the sets for a once-in-a-lifetime reunion, brining back several nostalgic memories and creating many new ones.

What’s hot
It’s a daunting task to cram so many iconic moments over ten years into a 1 hour and 40 minutes throwback trip, but the cast and crew of Friends: The Reunion ace it with the same effortless dexterity with which they touched our heart for those ten years. You’ll relive some of the best moments of the show with them, take a trip down memory lane with the creators and the six ‘friends’ reminiscing what went behind creating them, and be treated to some amazing cameos from famous celebrity guests like David Beckham, Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford and others (just as the show was known for albeit with many different faces, and who’d have ever guessed that Malala Yousafzai was such a big Friends fan) confessing how Friends impacted their lives.
Some of the best bits though include the trivia that’s revealed (quite unknow even for diehard Friends fans), such as Ross and Rachel owning up to their off-screen relationship (pretty close to their onscreen one, but I can’t reveal any more spoilers); Ross’ annoyance with Marcel the Monkey; Joey dislocating his shoulder; and how all six bagged the parts. Oh, and the fashion show plus Janice (Maggie Wheeler) towards the end is a total hoot. And yes, James Corden made a fantastic host.
What’s not
For starters I’d have liked much more, but that’s just me being greedy for my favorite sitcom of all time. The only real gripe I have is that a few more novelty acts could’ve been shared though I’m not complaining about the nostalgic trip.
BL Verdict
You’re going to not stop smiling or crying throughout the Friends Reunion. This one is the gift we were all waiting for.
